Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting (DASH)

DSCF1676.JPG

Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting (DASH) is the process by which a diver guides a suction hose towards a target species and, after removing the targeted species by hand, delivers the plant to the end of the suction hose. Once the target species is fed into the suction hose, it travels to the surface where is it sorted, collected, and placed in containers to be disposed of.

There are several different suction harvesting system designs and techniques. AE Commercial Diving Services, however, uses patented technology designed to effectively remove the target species, leaving native plants an animals behind and returning substrate materials back to the bottom of the body of water.

DASH, as performed by AE Commercial Diving Services with our patented technology, is extremely effective and is currently utilized by several municipal and state reservoir systems around New England to reduce, control, and eliminate invasive species from their drinking water systems.

DASH is an effective method of control for many projects.  Call us today to see if DASH is right for your Invasive Species Control project needs.

A diver approaches an area heavily infested with Eurasian Watermilfoil, guiding the suction hose towards the target species.

Holding the suction hose in place with one hand, the diver uproots the plant with other and guides it into the mouth of the suction hose.

The diver continues to move down the edge of the infested area, removing the targeted species and leaving the native behind.
